Mauricio Rodriguez' music finds its expression in a fluid transition between archetype sonorities and the most experimental acoustic art. His music invites the listener to delve in a multi-modal sonic space, often intricate and abstract, however viscerally vivid as an experience.

Rodriguez earned the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Composition by Stanford University, working with Brian Ferneyhough as advisor. He earned an MA in Sonology and a BA in composition by the Royal Conservatory The Hague in The Netherlands, studying with Clarence Barlow (composition), Konrad Bohemer (electronic music) and Paul Berg (computer programming). He has a BA in composition, piano and ethnomusicology by The National School of Music, University of Mexico (UNAM).

His music has been written and performed by acclaimed musicians such as the Arditti String Quartet, JACK String Quartet, Ensemble SurPlus, Curious Chamber Players in Stockholm, Talea Ensemble, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) New York, Pasatono Orquesta Mexicana, Earplay, sfSound, Soundgear Japan, Cepromusic Ensemble, Formalist Quartet, Either/Or Ensemble, Ensemble Vortex, SpazioMusic Project, guitarist Magnus Anderson, flutist Wilfrido Terrazas, Onix New Ensemble of Mexico, Ensemble Ossia, Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble für Neue Musik Zürich & Proyecto Guerrero Ensemble among others.

As a composer and player he has participated at the Internationales Ferienkurse Darmstadt, VU Utah, Korean Electro-Acoustic Conference, Brazil Biennale, Palaeophonics UK, Forum for New Music Mexico, Mexican Music New York City, Encontro de Ani Portugal, Festival Archipiel Geneve, Radar Mexico, Uno-Uno Prima Italy, INJUVE Composition Spain, Centre Acanthes France, World New Music Days Switzerland, The International Musical Festival Conlon Nanacarrow, and Musicalia Havana.

He has been artist in residence at Arteles Creative Center (Finland), University of California Santa Cruz (WACM-Workshop in Algorithmic Computer Music), International Centre for Composers (Gotland-Sweden), Xenakis Centre (CCMIX), Formations Professionnelles Royaumont Foundation, and Superior Institute of Art Havana Cuba.

He has been appointed as a fellow for the National Endowment for the Arts of Mexico (2016-2019). He also has received several scholarships, awards and distinctions by institutions such as The British Council, The Fund for Culture and Fine Arts of Mexico, The National Council for Culture and Fine Arts of Mexico, The Mexican Institute for Aesthetics Research, Telmex Foundation, The Medal University of Mexico, The National System for Research of Mexico, The National Institute for the Youth (Spain), The Center of Diffusion for Contemporary Music CDMC (Spain), Stanford University, Zaffaroni Fund, Burgos Foundation, Royaumont Foundation, and Honorific Mention Frederic Mompou International Award.
